I would recommend a standard simple backup program, like Deja Dup.
1. This would be simpler than developing one just for Linux Lite.
2. For someone coming from another distro, LL would have a program that would recognize their backups from the other distro.
3. For someone coming from another distro, they would not have to know what individual file to backup from the other distro if LL had a backup program they could install on their distro before installing LL if they weren't already using it.
(I think distro hopping is common but they may decide to stay with Linux Lite.)
