linux-lite on a chromebook(wiped)

I am in much the same situation with an Acer 317 Chromebook. In this case the sound card is Jasper Lake. I have tried a lot of Linux OS's, but the only ones which work are too heavy, & cause overheating. It has no fan or ventilation. I am using a $26 USB adapter for sound, pending further research. The keyboard control keys work fine as well.
