Yessir, the panel was resolved by simply rebooting, and it's hardly unique to Linux Lite, as you said. My only suggestion would be to link Firefox (and anything else that would be installed by snapd) to a command string that installs a PPA to fetch and install, instead of using snapd at all. Everything else has come out golden for me. It's still "Xubuntu done right."
