Hello!
This happened to me, also. After the latest updates on my HP netbook, I had to tether to my phone and pull in bcmwl-kernel-source to reinstall the Broadcom driver to get WiFi back online.
Sadly, THAT was the LEAST of my problems. I have a tech coming to replace the gateway/router tomorrow afternoon. Turns out my ISP pushed out a bad update today that basically bricked everybody's ISP-furnished routers. Glad I have unlimited data on the phone...
