Once you've set it up.. it then becomes an update and run..

sudo clamscan -r -i /PATH_of_SCAN | grep FOUND >> /home/YOURUSER/virus-scan-report.txt


As long as no errors present.


Personally - I scan my home directory, as this is where downloads go... you can do root (/) but you may want to add exclusions i.e. for TimeShift (backup) directory...
