Update error log

Just installed Linux lite 5.xx

Tried to install updates and got the following error mesages

E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend. It is held by process 3596 (apt-get)
E: Unable to acquire the dpkg frontend lock (/var/lib/dpkg/lock-frontend), is another process using it?

Any help appreciated

How did you try to update? Using the update widget or via terminal?  Were synaptic or gdebi running at the time this happened? The error message is quite clear: some other process was using sudo/apt and that's why you couldn't update your system. Try again and make sure nothing is using sudo/apt.
