There are issues with the older ryzen cpus and laptops. I am in testing myself for a fix. You might try adding nomodeset to grub right in front of quiet splash and run update-grub to set it and reboot to see if that might fix it. Those cpus had bad firmware on the bios and have never worked right in Linux. I am going to add that switch to the section for safe boot on my stuff to see if that works. Please let me know if that has any effect as this helps others. I have a stable version that is 20.04 based but early stuff on that laptop with that switch added and it is rock stable, not the fastest but stable.
