Well, it seems q1za1 has solved his/her problem. But as I had a similar problem once, I couldn't let the opportunity to comment this for posterity, just in case someone has this problem:
First, a litle history: I was tweaking with a small SSD so I wanted to seize as much space from it as possible.
So I started questioning myself about the most cost-efficient size for each partition.
When I took a look at the /boot partition and realized it was utilizing only about 30%, Le Me, being a total n00b, said what the hell, so I reduced it to 200MB or so, and guess what?
I became unable to download updates.
I couldn't find a satisfactory explanation for this, but Le Me became very paranoid about this, so now I always set the boot partition at 1GB (just in case ;D ).
