Yes, that procedure does work - the first thing I did after installing Linux Lite was change the file manager, as I don't like Thunar. I'm currently using PCManFM instead.

I didn't know about Pantheon, but the screenshots at Github look interesting. I'll definitely look at it! Thanks so much.
