One of the (many) great things about desktop Linux is how many options there are for customizing your experience. You can even swap out the file manager. You might like to try Pantheon, which is designed to be similar to the Mac file browser.

Linux Lite comes with the file manager Thunar. If you install Pantheon or something else and decide you like it better, you can make it the default file manager here:
SETTINGS > Preferred Applications > Utilities (tab) > File Manager
(I haven't tried this, but I understand it should work.)
