Welcome to the forum!
Basically you should just backup all the data files (your documents, music etc) from your Windows into some
temporary storage like USB stick, SD card or external hard drive.
Then brutally install LL over the Windows and finally restore the data files back from the temporary storage.
I'm sure there are people here who can help with the details
Tip: Use your wife's laptop first for a while ( if she let's you
to get familiar with LL before installing ...
