Hopefully someone more knowledgeable with configuring linux will come along to help you but I wonder if the problem might be with your tv settings.
I'm not sure what the difference between vistas output and linux lites hdmi output but is it possible the signal is been interperated differently and if you change the input settings on your tv things might work. From what you have said linux is recognising the tv so maybe the problem is at the tv rather than linux lite.
might be worth a try untill better help comes along
