Live USB doesn't start, stops with error
#3
This topic just shows up another sore spot for Windows users on older computers, one that MS could easily make a provision for given that Ubuntu and Debian are free software. I never use any specialized software to create bootable USB ISOs other than gparted. 4gig is more than enough for any linux ISO. Take any USB and format it using gparted to FAT32 first (zero it if used, or if it has DOS security provisions) If its more than 4gig create a primary partition of 4gig at the beginning of the drive. Download the ISO to a Debian or Ubuntu computer. From an Ubuntu or Debian computer right click on the ISO and select write to disk and the ISO will rewrite to whatever partition or disk you choose and be bootable. If you have 2gig or less of RAM on a Windows box writing any Linux full DE ISO using any method will give you problems. It's assumed that at 64bit you have at least 3gig of RAM on a Windows box. If you have or if you get an Ubuntu or Debian computer create all your live USB ISOs with it in the future. When series versions change create your new USB ISOs first before trashing your old OS. Forget about MS patched-up over-coded stopgap solutions forever. The next time I get a Windows computer in the shop to wreck I'm going to write a tutorial on how to install LL from the ISO on a FAT32 disk partition to the same disk wiping out Windows using gparted after download to prep the disk. It's easier than it sounds.
