DNS settings............
#3
That's quite interesting. The list of DNS providers is getting longer and more competitive. As for reliability or speed I can't really say at this point (haven't tested it yet but I will certainly give it a try at some point). It doesn't hurt to have another option under the sleeve.

My preferred forwarder is Quad9 (9.9.9.9) which is the fastest in my location also (11-21ms on first queries). It sits behind IBM X-Force threat intelligence, offers DNSSC, no tracking, no personally-identifiable information is collected by their system. IP addresses of end users are not stored to disk or distributed outside of the equipment answering the queries in the local data center. Quad9 is a not-for-profit organization. When a malicious site is blocked they simply return a NXDOMAIN (No existent domain); no redirection, no ads, zip, zero.

Like [member=5414]firenice03[/member] I've also used OpenDNS but the lack of DNSSEC pushed me away.  Speed is nice but speed, DNSSEC support and privacy is nicer Smile

With all and all you won't be surprised if I tell you that the fastest forwarder for you is your Linux Lite box. You can setup dnsmasq in your box and use it as your DNS/DHCP for your LAN (as long as you are willing to keep it on) and then you'll certainly enjoy from an extra boost in speed in terms of browsing/DNS resolution.

Sorry for seeming stupid and preferring Linux - I just don't know any better.
