OK, I had to post this. albeit useless 
It was long but I successfully installed Linux Lite on a Pentium 3, 10GB HDD annnd, wait for it... 2-5-6 MBs of ultrafast RAM!
It rebooted fine, was able to crawl and do updates and reboot too.
"Using" the computer is another story though, almost anything is so slow that it "looks" crashed, but it's not.
I usually don't install under 1GB RAM on real crappy config but I didnt have any SDRAM RAM (ouch).
The project was too tempting., even though the laptop was giving to a guy just wanting to have a serial port to control an external device. /_ () /_
