Hello redplanet,

Python 2 and Python 3 are already installed in Linux Lite.
You can write the code in Gedit then save, the file is run from the terminal.
Where you can also import other modules for Python, like turtle.

Gedit is in Install/remove software -
Menu>System>Install/Remove Software
