I've had this problem as have many other people (see Google); in fact I used to get 2 instances of that dialog every time I used the brightness buttons on my laptop when Mint 17 was installed. I installed the AMD Catalyst control centre and changed various settings until it fixed it... I think it was the 'vari-bright' setting but not sure.
