Saw this and your other post...
As you mention it's possible its kernel related.. When it comes to installing kernels, know how to back out...


But before you go down roads of importing and installing various kernels... LL lite has built in tools that will easily allow you to install "try" and remove kernels. I believe as far back as 3.13..

A few things..

• I would make a Systemback back up you can revert back if need be..
  
• Don't remove an working kernel until you know a the new is working as you need...
  
• If a kernel doesn't work at all and cannot boot - from grub choose the 2nd option for advanced booting to choose a different installed kernel - don't recall the exact line name.
