Thanks for being cool and forgiving me. It's not often I get kudos for being a jerk. 
I've been struggling a lot with learning Linux and finding a distro that works right or that I can work right and I usually can't get decent help from anyone because they're not very newb-friendly on a lot of boards. They seem to have forgotten what it's like to be new or want to pretend that they never were new. Like most Windows/Mac users I had never ever done a lot of things that are expected of a Linux user. I'd never downloaded or installed an OS, used a terminal, thought of the OS and desktop environment or window manager as distinct things, used a software repository, used a package manager, got help from boards etc.
Anywho, I was really irritated at elitist meanies and my own struggling with the learning curve and I shouldn't have aimed my vitriol at someone that's obviously spent a lot of their time trying to make things easier for people like myself. It's dumb to shoot at allies unless I'm trying to lose.
