There is some history on this issue, and I have looked into the installer at length previously in regard to what you have pointed out. No OS is perfect, each has its flaws. I believe our overall approach, support and inclusion of the community far out-weigh the odd flaw. We are always looking for ways to do things better, and have improved upon dozens of features. We will never stop improving. Cheers.
