Kernel Install/Remove issue with a kernel later than what LL provides
#3

Can this be fixed? If I wanted to remove the 4.11 kernel and go back to the 4.4 series as default, what needs to be done?
You cannot remove the kernel you're currently booted to, if you reboot choosing advanced on grub and choose boot to 4.4.x, then will you be able to remove 4.11...
Only remove a previous once you're sure the new is working satisfactorily...
