I don't know if this is relevant. My old Toshiba satellite pro A10 Celeron® 2.0GHz CPU with 1 GB ram PCMIA 3com wifi struggled with the later versions of LL. V2.8 was on the very edge. Did get Skype working http://www.computer-specifications.com/s...Specs.html
I took a punt and installed POINT LINUX 3.2 on it - managed to get a much smoother experience, including current debian SKYPE. So it might work for you. Afraid their support is virtually non existent - not like here. But still worth a try? Good luck.
BTW I installed the XFCE version of point linux 32 bit http://pointlinux.org/download.html?vers...irect=true
