I am unsure about the wallpaper issue, it doesn't happen for me, have you tried experimenting with different wallpapers, and then changing back, comparing to see if there is a difference ?
I have seen that before on other non Linux computers, it was found to be where the wallpaper was not the same size as the screen resolution setting, and where the wallpaper was not set to align center, and this movement was where it increased the wallpaper size to fit.
On Mr.Robot se01ep01 when he arrives in work and talks about evil corp, where it shows the variety of devices with the 'e' upon them, I am convinced this 'e' represents "eple" (Norwegian for Apple).
