FIXED THANKS ALL
ran SUDO exo-preferred-applications,and permission was allowed to change. and now the folders are running exactly how they were set too. so happy love this os, thanks to all you guys. !
lesson in all this, if your new to linux don't jump in too deep installing stuff and thinking it will not effect the system even though it loaded thunar whenever i ran nautilus which made me forget it was even installed. i have a lot to learn this is my first linux distro, but shockingly loved it better than windows the second i ran it.
