With my knowing just enough Linux to be dangerous, I have made a lot of these same mistakes myself. Were I in your shoes, I'd remove Lubuntu Software Center with the hope that it hasn't damaged things very much already. Worst case scenario, if it has broken anything of significance, then reinstalling LL will fix it. ...

Thanks, guys. I have taken both your advice and removed both software centers and the updater.

Also "with my knowing just enough Linux to be dangerous," I installed AbiWord and uninstalled LibreOffice with Synaptic because I think it is lighter and all I needed is a word processor. Couldn't LibreOffice out of menu so uninstalled AbiWord with Synaptic and reinstalled LibreOffice.

Haven't figured out how to clear this up. Should I just reinstall LL and not repeat the same mistake?  :-\
