Hello!
During the install onto this old dinosaur, I had similar issues with extreme sluggishness, but ubiquity slows down ANY PC. I had the on-screen clock stop and correct itself after several seconds - sometimes, minutes. I finally had to use a CD to install - the USB here is 1.1, and it crashed the installer.
All this is NOT LL's fault. This laptop has EXTREMELY limited resources. However, if your system clock continues to be slow, the CMOS battery becomes a likely suspect...
