Linux Lite won't let me install *any* software

  I'm here because I'm having the same problem. I have no solution, just posting to inform the problem the other individual is/was having, isn't unique to them.  I performed performed, the
Menu -> System -> Install Additional Software, then choose it (#2) from the list shown, steps.  That worked as it should on my netbook. Not so well on the desktop I'm trying to get back into use. After entering my password I get the installing Chrome box that shows the progress bar of the installation; then I get an error box that contains the message Chrome could not be installed. This after updating LL and a cold reboot. However Chromium installed when I got similar error message An entry for it appeared in the internet menu. Go figure [sigh]
