I'd also say, if your PC can handle more memory, consider maxing it out. DDR2 memory is really cheap right now on ebay. The dual core 64-bit Linux Lite builds I've done so far all have at least 4GB of RAM and 2.x GHz processor frequencies. The one that had less than 4GB RAM seemed to perform better with the 32-bit version of Linux Lite. So I kept that PC on 32-bit. I don't remember the processor frequency for that machine.
