Based on my experience, and your target market I would "not" add it to your "standard" upgrade script.
I tried 3.19 on a PC that was giving me WiFi issues, whilst it appeared(?) to fix the WiFi issue,
I ended up with a "Kernel Taint" on a "Non-Existent" SDHC module. (shown in dmesg log file)
So for simplicity I rolled back the kernel, and I now re-start network manager every 12 hours.
I think adding it as an "option" is probably the best way, an optional "YES" - "NO" screen after you launch the upgrade script, with a "Warning".
and an instruction/reminder that if you "do" the kernel upgrade and encounter problems you will need to boot the previous(older) Kernel from
the "Advanced" grub option, Then use "Lite Tweaks" to remove the kernel just added.
