Compaq Presario v6310us Notebook PC not recognizing wifi adapter
#6
Hello!

You may already know this, but if you install different Broadcom drivers without removing ALL the previous ones first, they conflict with each other, and none of them will work.

Next shot you get at it, in a terminal window, type

Code:
lspci -nn | grep 14e4

and post the result. That should tell us exactly which one you have on your hands, and is about the only sure-fire way to find out. Some of them with the same BCMXXXX number have different revisions (rev 0x) that will affect which 14e4:43XX code you get back. - which is the number you'll need to find the correct driver. Then again,

Code:
sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree

and a reboot might also do the trick, but it WOULD be interesting to know which one it is.

If it turns out to be sluggish, and it's a LP-PHY model, even though it may call for the wl driver, it might work better using the b43 driver instead...
