You can do it via locales but that is to long winded and may screw up existing menu entries. Get this plugin here - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunder...te-format/
After you've installed it go to Edit, Preferences in Thunderbird. Click on Display, then the Date Format tab. Copy in the following string:
into the Date Format box.
Then go to the Date Format Preferences tab and tick the 2 boxes there.
You may have to restart Thunderbird to see the new date time format.
