Hi Torrydale
I have installed 2.6 using the Flash drive in root/ with a new partition for /Home .
I was able to login OK and set up a Temp user account
I then copied my backup of (Home old ) back to the new (Home)
I can Login as Temp OK but I cannot get past the log on page with my Colin account as every time I input the password ( used same one in new install ) the splash screen goes off and reverts back to login . I set the new install to auto login as i had in 2.4
Quote:Yes you can backup your entire home folder. When you create your new 2.6 build, create a /home partition. At the end, restore your entire home folder to the new /home partition. In the future, if you ever need to reinstall, you'll only be affecting your root (/) partition, and your /home partition will be in tact.
