How to view active Wifi , from LL2.4

Thanks , I only wanted to see what was running /on the air to determine if a connection was possible, thanks to all for the info, I played with WireShark a while back in Win 7 , I also played with a USB RTL Dongle  but that only supplies a spec/an type info. Thanks so much for all the help and source info.
Also sorry to be such a newb , I am/have suffered brain damage.I had a mind once, for real, ppl tell me so.
Now got lots to read.
