Ok. I was hoping the output would show what happens right before you get stuck. If you could get a log showing that, it would help. But I understand your only option when running Install Updates is to use the Cancel button.
Let's try this:
1) Menu, System, Install/Remove Software.
2) Click on Edit, Mark All Upgrades.
3) Click on Edit, Apply Marked Changes.
You might also try Edit, Fix Broken Packages.
Also, do you recall what you last installed? Looking up your error online, it often seems like it was related to something the user recently installed.
