lots of well intentioned folks, but just to many inputs. I was not aware of this when I posted.

To extract the .tar , then right click the file and select the "Extract To..." option,
then navigate to where you want to extract "To"
I just did it with that file, and it extracts O.K, there is readme file inc

I had to use Open as Administrator in order to enter my sudo password, but in the end it still doesn't work.

Try and be as detailed in your answers as we are in our replies. It still does not work is not a detailed answer.
We are not in the room with you and do not see what you are doing.
So all just guess work on our end. Especially harder work with "did not work either".
