I know the 2nd suggestion is attainable as I have modified, I'm not in front of my LL set up but I think its the following:

Right click on desktop.
Go to Desktop Settings.

MENU Bar:
Click on the Menus tab.
Change the value of the Menus size.
ICONS:
Click on the Icons tab.
Change the value of the Icon size.

Thank you but it doesn't have the choice to change the menu bar size.
Also a great default feature for 2.8 LL would be to reduce icon size to 41, put Home folder on desktop. Also have gufw firewall as option to install along with newer version of Playonlinux, steam and wine on a LL software repository - if possible
