Samba problems - phantom share
#3
Wow. I ran the sudo leafpad smbusers command, and found this:

<linux> = "<linux>"paul = paul

I don't know how that got mangled, as I had been using the Samba configuration tool to deal with users, but I added a line feed, to make:

<linux> = "<linux>"
paul = paul

And instantly I have Win7 access to the Samba shares. I suppose I should delete the "linux" entry and add quotes and brackets to my name, as per the manual.

I tested this on a second Win7 machine, On both Win7's I have access but am still seeing the phantom Samba machine and its share.

Thanks very much, torreydale!!
