I've installed i3 window manager, and that brought dunst with it! Thanks for spotting that shaggy!
In other distros when installing i3, it's notify app does not take over, but is confined to the i3 session. The XFCE session keeps using the original.
I could not use i3 because the login screen does not have a session menu like in Xubuntu or LXLE.
(Session and Startup > General > Session Chooser ticked brings up a menu with just the XFCE session.)
For the time being I'll remove i3 with stuff it brought with itself.
Could this be a bug of Linux Lite's session management?
