So we can see your machine. As far as not completing shutdown. All I can contribute is that on my older laptops that I have sold.

would have to added to the kernel line in legacy grub for my IBM A22M and IBM 390E to shut down completely
because of the age of the laptops.

I am not sure about the policy here when it comes to piggy backing on a thread here either. Where I  mod it. Usually if it is a issue. I just move the thread/new users posts,  to it's own titled location that I  make for the new forum user that did not know.

Different forum provider than here so I am not savvy on the forum tools here for mods and admins.
Worse came to worse. I would cut and paste posts into a new thread of my making and delete the piggy back posts.
