Linux Lite does not see my wi-fi. Slitaz, Watt os, Knoppix everything else does.

I am just a bit confused by some of the suggestions as to possible causes of the problem. If my wireless hardware is working OK with other Linux distributions and with Windows then one thinks that it should work with Lite. Frt example things like BIOS settings and wireless switch would seem to have universal effect what ever the programme. I am just about brand new to these things so my thinking may well be faulty.  Just thought I would see what you chaps think.
