[SOLVED] Thunderbird Links Open Same Page in Firefox

Some 3-4 years ago (while still running WinXP) my system contracted a root-kit + trojan virus. It hijacked my browser (Firefox) and XP's entire TCP-IP protocol stack, and kept sending me back to the very malware-site(s) i tried to get rid off. Though i eventually eradicated that infection, i had to pretty much rebuild my system all over again ...

So fwiw, my take is that SOMETHING 'jacked your FF and/or TB setup. Under linux, the only way that can happen is (a) during system updates, which require a root-pwd, or (b) during typical user-type operation. To isolate where/how this might have happened, let's look at FF first: can you access your POP3/IMAP email account directly via the browser? If so, then try to login to your ISP's mailserver and click on your mailserver-stored emails' hyperlinks and see if the links open up PROPERLY. If that works ok, i'd say that your browser's configuration is still good and we need to look at TB next. If it doesn't, you'd have to repair FF first b4 proceeding ...
