The fonts showing in the list of Leafpad but displaying as boxes, are these fonts installed in the system fonts folder /usr/share/fontsĀ ?
If the fonts are in the system fonts folder and not working in Leafpad , it may be worth uninstalling Leafpad and reinstalling it again, then retrying those fonts.
