Courier 10 pitch is the name of a font in a long list of available fonts on leafpad that show up when I click options/font. If it is set to that or one of a handful of others the text displays in that style. Clicking on any other font renders the text as square symbols. The font appears tied to the program and not the document. If the document is then opened in libre office it is in Liberation mono which is presumably a text format.
Its odd as I seem to remember leafpad working similarly to a word processor rather than just a text editor and I'm not sure why fonts would show in the list but not work.
I have quite a few fonts and they are all in /usr/share/fonts
