If you are trying to connect to bbs sites there are telnet client add-ons for Firefox that can be added from the add-on manager in the browser. Before deciding to use an add-on you should do a web search about the add-on to make sure other people haven't had a problem with it. To find add-ons for Firefox you click on tools in the menu and then click add-ons. When the add-ons page loads type "telnet client" in the search bar on the right top of the page.
