touchscreen
Does LL support touch? I never really thought about it since I've never had a touchscreen computer (just my old iPad and smartphones).

Yes. It supports my finger and Pen on my Dell XT2.

I have purchased a few secondhand laptops and Installed Linux on as it's cheap to do. Companies I have used in the UK are:

Desktops are not so popular in the UK at the moment. I have always tended to go for ex-business machines as they are better built than the consumer laptops. My own LL machine is a Dell D430 and it runs very well.
Issues I've had with the laptops in the past with various incarnations of Linux always boiled down to the wifi card. If one area didn't work it was always the wifi card (and usually Broadcom wifi cards in general).
If you find a machine that it works fine on then by purchasing the same spec ones by burning an image to them the hard work will be setting the initial machine.

Hello!
It'll definitely help to get the machines donated, as opposed to having to buy them.
I hope this project goes well for you!
