Re-Installing Linux Lite
#1
Given the problems I've had with the clamav installation, perhaps due to me incorrectly installing it in the first place, I thought maybe I should just try re-installing LL 4.8 over the existing one.  I understand it is possible to overwrite it.  My original install is on:
/dev/sda5 ext 4 206886 MB 2234 MB Linux Lite 4.8
I highlighted that and clicked - change and thus created the 206886 as "free space".
I got the Create Partition menu and clicked OK to the defaults below:
Type for the new partition: X LogicalLocation for new partition: X Beginning of this space

And clicked OK
It said to make sure to check the box to Format it, which I did.  Then I clicked Install Now.

Then I got the message: ! No root file system.  No root file system is detected.  Please correct this from the partitioning menu.
Now I'm stumped.  What should I do next to complete the overwrite?

Hi!

Not sure how to help here but maybe the partition should be of type "Primary" and not "logical" ?

Just an idea. Wink

Ditto on primary..
Also make sure you assign it as root "/"
Should be a drop down maybe marked "label"

Thank you both for your advice on the selection of Primary.  It worked and I was able to re-install Linux on my computer.

Sadly, despite having re-installed Linux, I've still ran into the exact same problems with the clamav installation.  I will return to that post now and further explain what I tried to do in order to resolve that problem.
