Isn't a show stopper but just a tad bit irritating.
There are very few Linux Distros I recommend to Windows users and this is one.
Sounds very much like a Vbox problem (graphics), rather than LL itself, though am unsure what to suggest here.
You could try installing LL directly onto part of your drive, or on any spare drive you might have lying around.
I have used Vbox a lot in the last three years for trying out distros, but have had issues with it from time to time though, in general, it has worked
well. At the end of the day, the real test is to try it out directly on your PC (without Vbox) - remember not all software will
function in Vbox, e.g. nvidia graphics. Make sure you
only tick 3D acceleration in Vbox settings. Unlike Windows OS installed in Vbox, you can't tick both 2D & 3D with Linux, only 3D.
If you can, do persevere with LL - try not to be discouraged at the first hurdle.
Out of the many Linux distros I've tried since 2014 (around 30), LL has come out as top of my list each time.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

LL4.6, works well with kernel 4.4; 4.15 doesn't work
