I am unsure about laptop hardware, can it have the chip on the mainboard for wireless, instead of a card ?
Hardware I have only changed a hard drive in laptop before.
I have changed, a most things inside desktops, but not mainboards.

good point, havent thought of that. Need to check if it has a seperate card or a chip on mainboard.

ok, i messed things up. Checked and saw that the laptop has a wifi card. Decided to disconnect it to see how that goes. Thats were things went wrong. During the reconnecting the card first the little screw decided to fall into the the interior of the laptop and it was unable to get it out. No problem, got extra screws but i couldnt get the tiny connectors to fit on the card and during the process of getting them on the connector of the white cable came of
So now got a laptop with a loose screw somewere inside it and no wireless card. Hooked up the nexus 6 and turned on usb tethering, got internet and its fast got 132Mbit download and 14Mbit upload.
So what to do now..is it safe to leave the screw inside the laptop? Did try to get it out but i hear it moving but not falling out. Can use the phone for internet on laptop so thats no problem.
Feel free to tell me that it was not a very smart thing to do..i know now. I guess i should know better by now but apperantly not

Do they sell noodle cables where you bought the good priced optical mouse with tail from ?

I think it would be safer if you get the screw out if it lands somewhere and shorts out a spot. If you're not sure how to take the covers apart maybe it would be a good idea to take it to your local geek to get it out. Just to be safe.
I would do it myself but others who are not so inclined may want to have someone who knows what they're doing. It is up to you.

After about an hour i finally got the screw out. Becasue the connector of the white cable came off and the one on the blak cable was damaged after inspection i did cut down both wires and closed the laptop. So at the moment i got a laptop without wireless, but not a problem, hooked up the nexus 6 and using usb tethering to get online.

I was about to suggest a magnetic screwdriver, until I saw your last post. I used a wifi dongle from ThinkPenguin for awhile, until I found a script for getting mylaptop's built-in Broadcom wireless modem working.

Found a old cat 5 utp patch cable and hooked that up to the laptop. Download speed is 150Mbit/sec. For now its ok, going to order a longer cable tomorrow, the one i use now is only 7,5M so cant be installed against the wall, it needs to be twice that length.
