I did test a 3.2 64-bit USB I had at hand and TAB at Welcome to Linux Lite screen will add a string of code along the bottom.. As listed

Perhaps replacing quiet splash here with nomodeset?? As suggested by Torreydale as well

Couple of suggestions,

If you have another Linux computer available, and if you can boot a live USB from the one you are trying to install to: burn the ISO to a USB on your other Linux computer first and edit its grub there; then attempt the install from USB on the other. Just about any computer can show a grub boot menu terminal so consider that option when you do your edit. Until the HDD is accessed, changes to a live DVD only live in RAM, but you can write and save changes to a USB, even add or preseed driver packages, thus a big advantage for complicated installs.

On the live cd I have got to the prompt removed quiet splash and added nomodeset nolapic, and pressed ctrl x to save, nothing has happened the cursor remains at the last character, and arrows and tabs dont put it back to the menu ?

Trinidad, so if the nomodeset works on the live cd it still wouldn't install from the live cd, I would need to put the iso on the usb and edit it first before installing ?
Or is this for future to make it available for editing on other installs ?
I do have other Linux computers, one is LL 2.n, and one is LL 3.2, both are 32bit.

I have installed Ubuntu on this computer, I can use LL on the others.

I have just tried adding only nomodeset, and removing quiet splash, then ctrl x, the cursor remains at the end of the string, and tab or arrows will not take it back to menu

1 difference being , initially I could not get out of the menu to alter the text, last time I used firenice03, tab then e to do so.
This time pressing tab rapidly jumps it out of the menu and to the text.

Edit - esc key jumps it back to the menu and text disappears, starting LL is the same black screen, monitor goes to standby.
I tried 1 on each boot added 1 space after existing text, after each try, used ctrl x, esc top menu item enter, repeated all using F10 instead of ctrl x , holding down power key to shutdown then power button to restart and try next one , each time -

edit add - nomodeset nolapic, remove quiet splash and --
edit add - nomodeset, leave quiet splash and -- , text entered after 1 space after quiet splash and 1 space after text before --

All produced exactly the same result, black screen monitor power turns off/standby

Tried fresh d/l dvd burn of LL 3.2 64bit, same results.

Update -

I decided to try it how Trinidad described and the edits remain so may be better.

Okay, I have not done iso or OS to usb before, on Linux I have only copied my music mix to music folder, or saved text files to usb or my wallpapers. Likewise on windows.
Currently my usual LL is not connected, shortage of cables need the one I am trying to install LL on and this windows one to write this. Extra cables and kvms on route.

what I've done before starting to try it -

1/ d/l LL 64bit
2/ d/l LL recommended win32diskimager
3/ it doesnt recognise LL 64bit as iso file, used ** to find it.
4/ use windows quick format fat32 to format new usb
5/ burned iso to usb using #2
6/ unsure if the new pc boots from usb or how to alter that couldn't find any setting for booting from usb, in boot or usb areas of bios.

Will try it now.

Update, it does boot from usb.

Consider Trinidad's suggestions.  Or if a developer doesn't have a better idea, consider the Xfce version of Linux Mint.

I would think that there has to be a file you can edit on a bootable USB before you boot to it that solves this.

Tried all the above same edits, same results.....

Tried remove quiet splash, no ctrl x , no F10, typed nomodeset in place of quiet splash, hit enter on keyboard.

Lot of text scrolling fast fair amount about vpn connections, Linux Lite desktop has loaded  , I am very happy ;D

Now how to install, will it install in the usual way, or will it need some editing to install like it did for the live version ?

Update - Install has the same issue, can it be edited from the live usb, or it needs some editing before installing again ?

If you have it installed, then you should now be able to boot (cold boot, ie. power on) holding the right shift key, get to the advanced menu options, and edit the grub as seen in my earliest links in this thread.
