corrupted file in firefox

Not being an IT specialist and having only been using Linux for 5 yrs. I`ve not been able to solve an anomaly with Firefox. I use Sophos-av and no matter what O/S I download including LL Firefox is shown with a corrupted file unless I do not install or sign in.This shows up in Arch, Antergos, Manjaro, Mint, LL, peppermint and any of the Ubuntu flavors with one exception, Ubuntu 16.04.1. I have uninstalled Firefox in LL and the file remains. I double checked with clam a-v on a couple of O/S s and it shows a Trojan in Firefox. Signed in to Ubuntu LTS with exact same sign for Firefox with the exact same apps and no corrupted file. I had been using opera and chrome along with Firefox and I can only assume the problem must be in my Firefox when I log in except it is not in Ubuntu. To reproduce the problem simply download free sophos, install and run scan. Others may have the file also and not even know it is there.

using the Firefox profile on Ubuntu without the corrupted file, have you tried this method of recreating your Firefox profile on LL, so you are sure to be using the non corrupted version of your Firefox profile -

Thank you for the link. It looks as though that might work. I have tried everything else including refresh and all the suggestions Firefox offers. I would have to re-install LL to re-create the corrupt file again. I will probably try that later for at the moment it is not there. Ubuntu has it`s own virus protection and I am wondering if that might be the reason it does not show up. Thanks again. What puzzles me is the fact it shows up on all the other distros I have tried, but not Ubuntu itself. Strange.

Sounds like a false positive linked to some twirky Ubuntu/Firefox update/reminder or sync function: i/e shows up in all other Ubuntu based distros and not Ubuntu itself. I doubt it's real. Minor update/reminders or sync functions can sometimes scan as trojans because they are built to act like one, actually are trojans in a sense. Maybe the new Ubuntu/Firefox has crossed the adware line. I'd ignore it and wait on an upstream resolution. It doesn't show up in my LLs but I never use a Firefox login account or Thunderbird.

I was not able to locate which file it was identified in sophos and clam with a number that followed the name of Firefox. Trinidad could be correct, it could be a false positive and I am unable to post a screen shot since it is not in the O/S Ubuntu that I am at the moment using. I had been able to remove it previously by refreshing Firefox and re-booting. Lately that did not work.
When I get back into LL I will try the first suggestion and re-set my profile.  If you look at Ubuntu`s web sight it states in the overview for desktops that it ships with maleware or virus protection, as to the details of that claim, I never followed it up.

UPDATE: was curious, had a quick look around, and found this:
"Built-in virus protection" is a simplification of the security features of Ubuntu.

Out of interest I would reproduce the AV alert on LL, then copy the whole FF profile over to Ubuntu and run an AV test there.

Did fresh download of LL and installed. Updated Firefox to latest version, Installed Sophos and ran scan. Corrupted File is gone. Thanks to all who helped with suggestions.
